Sacrifice by Diana Pemberton

A poem for Remembrance Day

What would they say

About Today

Those brave men that marched away

Hopes were high

Under that blue sky

Til battle began and they were left to die

Some survived

When others died

And family left at home just cried.

Years have gone

Memories linger on

Veterans left to ask who won.

The global state

of greed and hate

leave questions about our heroes' fate

What would they say

If there was war today

Would those same men still march away?
